Property
CNA property risk control works with our
policyholders to eliminate or reduce the
frequency and severity of property losses.
Qualified surveyors inspect sites, identifying
and analysing risk control measures that will
reduce policyholders’ exposures to fire, theft,
malicious damage, windstorm, flood and similar
hazards. |
 |
| Fire protection
systems are assessed and tested. Fire detection
systems and the construction of buildings are
examined and physical security arrangements are
closely inspected. Management controls are
audited to ensure correct functioning. |
 |
| We also analyse
the business interruption exposure. This
includes identifying bottlenecks in production,
critical equipment that may take months to
replace and interdependencies among the
policyholder’s business and its suppliers and
customers. |
 |
| For investments
by the policyholder, we will help produce
protection plans, and will review proposed
building and fire protection plans, to ensure
correct protection. |
 |
Casualty
CNA casualty risk control examines the exposures
of our policyholders’ businesses to employers’
and public liabilities, and to product
liabilities arising from sales. Liability
exposure exists in every part of a business and,
in a culture of increasing compensation
litigation, policyholders need a comprehensive
risk management programme. Our experienced
surveyors work with policyholders to establish
such programmes, designed to minimise risk and
ensure compliance with statutory duties. |
 |
Cargo
CNA marine risk control assesses and reduces the
risks to goods in transit. |
 |
| This primarily
means safe warehousing and storage, so our work
assists with the identification and analysis of
storage and transit hazards such as theft, fire,
arson, and wet and accidental damage. We also
examine packaging, handling and storage
techniques, and we study the selection process
for hauliers. |
